Rainbow Lake

Generating Plant

ATCO Power’s Rainbow Lake Generating Plant is part of the most northerly generating facility connected to the Alberta system.

Today after many years of base load operations, these units are primarily operated to provide system support and for peak loads.

The Rainbow Lake Generating Plant is located 14 kilometres southeast of the town of Rainbow Lake about 900 kilometres north of Edmonton.

The Rainbow Lake Generating Plant is fuelled by natural gas. All electric energy is sold under a Power Purchase Arrangement.
