Sturgeon Generating Plant

The Sturgeon Generating Plant is located near Valleyview about 400 kilometres northwest of Edmonton.

Sturgeon Unit 2 was the first industrial gas turbine in Canada. These units have accumulated significant operating hours over many years of base load operation.

Today, the Sturgeon units are infrequently operated primarily for support and to meet peak load demands.
The Sturgeon Generating Station is fuelled by natural gas.
