John Ell

John Ell joined ATCO Power in 1978 at the Battle River Generating Station. He has held increasingly senior positions, including Station Manager of the Barking Power Station in London, England. John was appointed Vice President, IPP Operations in 2008. His current responsibilities include representing ATCO on multiple Owners and Joint Venture Committees.

Throughout his career, John has applied successful management and operational practices that contributed to safe and efficient operations of fossil-fired power stations in both the conventional utility industry and in a deregulated market environment.

John holds an Honours Certificate in Power Engineering from the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology, as well as a First Class Engineer’s Certificate of Competency.
