ASHCOR Technologies Ltd. was created in 1998 to market combustion by-products produced at coal-fired power stations operated by ATCO Power. ASHCOR primarily markets to the oil well servicing sector, ready mixed concrete producers and producers of other cement related products.
The predominant product marketed by ASHCOR is called fly ash – the non-combustible residue remaining after coal is consumed in a power plant furnace. Designated as a supplementary cementing material, fly ash is primarily used as a partial replacement for Portland cement in concrete products and oil well cementing slurries.
ASHCOR’s marketing efforts reduce green house gas emissions by displacing Portland cement. When Portland cement is manufactured significant levels of CO2 gas is emitted. For every tonne of Portland cement displaced by fly ash approximately one metric tonne of CO2 emissions are prevented from entering the atmosphere. This is equivalent to removing 250,000 automobiles from our roads for an entire year.
ASHCOR continues searching for new uses for ash products generated by coal-fired generating plants.
Our Goal
ASHCOR's mission is to continue to lead in the development, promotion and expanded use of power generation by-products in an environmentally responsible, technically astute and commercially competitive way.
